Sugar Association has given Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society (BERCS)a generous contribution of E400k to help families who were affected by the recent floods. The donation was given to BERCS to help emaSwati who have been left homeless and in dire need of basic necessities.
BERCS Grateful for ESA’s Support
The Red Cross President, Bongani Masuku expressed immense gratitude for ESA’s generous contribution. “We thank ESA for their support. I want to assure everyone that we will account for every cent of this donation. As a Board, we will play an oversight role to ensure that all procedures are followed diligently,” Masuku affirmed.
Masuku highlighted that there are currently 1,136 people in desperate need of assistance and that the donation would go a long way in making sure that their needs are met.

He also acknowledged the strong partnership between ESA and BERCS, highlighting that ESA has contributed over E1 million to various humanitarian efforts, including funding for the construction of houses for the needy in the previous year.
“The recent floods have made existing challenges even worse, like hunger and inadequate shelter. This donation will be pivotal in our relief efforts,” Masuku emphasized. He reassured the public that BERCS is committed to making sure that those who need help the most, get it. “We are here to help emaSwati.
Our mission is to ensure that resources are effectively distributed to those affected, and we appreciate the trust ESA has placed in us,” he added.
ESA’s Chief Executive Officer, Banele Nyamane, expressed deep sympathy for those affected. “We send our condolences to our fellow emaSwati suffering due to the recent floods. ESA is dedicated to helping our people, and this donation will directly assist those affected,” he stated during the donation ceremony at the BERCS headquarters.
Nyamane mentioned that the funds will go toward providing mattresses, family tents, and food parcels. “Our main focus is ensuring these families have shelter and access to food during this challenging time. We hope this donation helps ease some of the difficulties they’re facing,” he added.
Businesses and Individuals Urged to Help
In a show of unity, Nyamane also urged other businesses to step up and support the flood victims. “We encourage other businesses to come forward and contribute in any way they can. It is essential for all of us to stand together as a nation at such times,” he urged.
Both Nyamane and Masuku encouraged individuals and businesses to contribute towards the relief efforts. “Every little bit helps. Whether it’s money, food, or clothing, your contributions can make a significant difference in someone’s life,” Nyamane urged.
Masuku further noted that the contribution was especially appreciated given the organisation’s dwindling resources. “Foreign aid has been lessening over time, while the demand on the ground has only increased. We must remain hopeful and continue to support each other. Together, we can rebuild and recover from this disaster,” he said.
Programme Director Ncamisile Dlamini highlighted that ESA’s E400,000 donation is more than just a financial contribution, it is a testament to the power of community and collaboration in overcoming adversity.
The donation will help provide essential aid to flood victims, demonstrating the impact of businesses and organisations working together for the greater good.
